- India has initiated a significant mission named ‘Operation Kaveri’ to save many stranded citizens amid the escalating violence in Sudan.
In March, India’s eight core sectors’ output growth fell to a five-month low of 3.6%.

- Electricity and cement production slipped from a year ago, while crude oil output fell for the tenth successive month.
- On the other hand, coal production jumped 12.2% in March, while fertilizers and steel output grew 9.7% and 8.8%, respectively.
- For the full financial year 2022-23, core sectors saw a 7.6% growth compared to 10.4% in 2021-22, with all sectors reporting higher production except crude oil.

Delhi – Haryana officials seek to rejuvenate Yamuna.

- Delhi and Haryana government officials have recently announced a joint effort to clean and rejuvenate the Yamuna River.
- The officials have agreed to collaborate on various projects and measures to reduce pollution in the river and improve its ecological health.
- This includes the implementation of a comprehensive plan for sewage treatment, the installation of water quality monitoring systems, and the removal of encroachments and illegal structures along the riverbanks.
- The two governments have also pledged to work together to conserve the river’s biodiversity and promote sustainable regional development.
- The initiative aims to address the longstanding environmental and health challenges facing Yamuna and ensure its long-term sustainability.
