About Navroz, the Parsi New Year:

- The festival is celebrated by Zoroastrians and Parsi communities around the world.
- It’s a time of spiritual reflection, offering prayers, and seeking blessings for the coming year.
- People clean and decorate their homes, wear new clothes, and engage in feasting.
- Special traditional dishes like “sabzi polo” (herb rice) and “fish pulao” are prepared.
- Family and friends gather to celebrate, emphasizing unity and togetherness.
- Navroz is also known for its cultural traditions, including dance, music, and performances.
- The “haft-seen” table is a key feature, decorated with seven symbolic items starting with the letter ’S’.
- These items represent different virtues and hopes for the upcoming year.
- Overall, Navroz is a time of joy, hope, and looking forward to positive times ahead.
2. Prime Minister announces ‘Vishwakarma Yojana’ to benefit individuals skilled in traditional craftsmanship

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the ‘Vishwakarma Yojana’ on Independence Day.
- The scheme aims to benefit skilled individuals in traditional craftsmanship.

- It particularly targets the OBC (Other Backward Classes) community, including weavers, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, laundry workers, barbers, etc.
- The scheme will begin with an initial allocation of ₹13,000 to ₹15,000 crore.
- The Vishwakarma Yojana is set to empower and uplift families engaged in traditional crafts.
3. Mission LiFE initiative

Context:
- India is actively working towards realizing this concept on the international stage.
- In the face of climate crises, India has taken a leadership role by launching the “LifeStyle for Environment – Mission LiFE” initiative.
- This initiative aims to promote sustainable lifestyles and environmental consciousness among citizens.
About Mission LiFE initiative:
- Mission LiFE, or Lifestyle for Environment, is a global initiative launched by India in 2021 at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow.
- It aims to mobilize at least one billion people around the world to adopt sustainable lifestyles by 2030.
- The mission is based on the idea that individual actions can have a significant impact on the environment. By making small changes in our daily lives, such as reducing our consumption of energy and resources, we can collectively make a big difference.
- Mission LiFE has five pillars:
- Sustainable consumption and production: This pillar focuses on reducing our consumption of goods and services, and ensuring that the goods and services we do consume are produced in a sustainable way.
- Sustainable food systems:This pillar focuses on ensuring that our food production and consumption is sustainable, both for the environment and for our health.
- Sustainable energy: This pillar focuses on transitioning to clean and renewable energy sources.
- Sustainable water management:This pillar focuses on ensuring that we use water efficiently and sustainably.
- Sustainable waste management: This pillar focuses on reducing, reusing, and recycling waste.
