Ethics
Ethics is a set of standards that society places on itself, which helps guide behaviour, choices and actions. The word ‘ethics’ comes from the original Greek term ethikos, meaning ‘arising from habit’.

Dimensions of Ethics
In this section, we will discuss the dimensions of ethics that help in investigating how ethical conduct is determined in given circumstances. There are four major dimensions of ethics

Role of Society in Inculcating Values
Society is a structured community where individuals interact, share values and contribute to collective well-being. It consists of various institutions and relationships that shape human behaviour and development.

Based on the Teleological and Deontological approaches that we have studied in the previous chapters and with the understanding of human values we can apply the principles of Ethics in several areas.

Ethics in public and private life are deeply interconnected, shaping both individual behaviour and societal harmony. While distinct, both realms influence each other—ethical private conduct fosters moral public behaviour, and ethical governance upholds societal integrity.
