The HAP faces challenges due to divergent views among G-7 countries regarding AI regulation.
-
It can help develop a common understanding on regulatory issues while allowing for some divergence based on shared norms, principles, and guiding values.
-
The HAP can address specific issues like intellectual property rights (IPR) and provide guidance on the use of copyrighted materials in AI, such as datasets for machine learning.
-
It doesn’t aim to harmonize policies but rather seeks to work with others and develop interoperable AI governance frameworks.

The inflation projection for the current financial year 2023-24 is 5.1%, which is lower but still above the target.

The RBI’s monetary policy committee (MPC) aims to bring down inflation to 4% over the medium term and maintain it between 2% and 6% over the long term.
-
Retail inflation in India eased to 4.25% in May from 4.7% in April, but analysts expect inflation to remain sticky in the coming months.

The disinflation process is expected to take time, and achieving the 4% inflation target will likely happen over the medium term.
-
Governor Das highlighted the importance of considering growth concerns and the demographic dividend in India, as the country has a significant addition to its workforce each year.
-
The RBI’s pause in rate increases in April and June should not be interpreted as a pivot or a definitive change in policy direction.
