1. Rashtriya POSHAN (Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) Maah
- The Ministry of Women and Child Development is celebrating the 6th Rashtriya Poshan Maah from September 1 to September 30, 2023.
- Theme of the Mission: “Suposhit Bharat, Sakshar Bharat, Sashakt Bharat” (Nutrition-rich India, Educated India, Empowered India).
- Objective: to tackle Malnutrition through a life cycle approach, the cornerstone of Mission Poshan 2.0.
- Aim: The aim is to foster nutritional Understanding across India.
- Jan Andolan Movement (under the Poshan Maah): It will serve as an extended platform for united celebration under the Meri Mati Mera Desh Campaign, Commemorating the Nation’s journey of freedom and Progress.
- About POSHAN Abhiyan:
- It is a Multi-Ministerial convergence Mission with a vision to ensure the attainment of malnutrition-free India.
- It was launched on March 8, 2018, to address the country’s Malnutrition problem.
- It has been instrumental in advancing nutritional outcomes for pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children under 6 years of age in a comprehensive manner.
2. Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala, leads the Second day of Sagar Parikrama.
- Sagar Parikrama yatra has reached Tharuvaikulam, Tamil Nadu, today.
- About Sagar Parikrama:
- It is a program reflecting the far-reaching policy strategy of the government, leading to direct interaction with fishers and fish farmers to understand the issues of coastal areas and the problems related to fishermen.
- Union Minister Shri Parshottam Rupala emphasized seaweed cultivation and the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana scheme.
- About Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojna:
- Ministry: It was launched by the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in September 2020 for 5 years (2020-2025).
- Aim: to double the income of fish farmers and fishers in the country. It focuses on the sustainable development of the fisheries sector of India.
3. PM asks the citizens to participate in the Meri maati Mera Desh Campaign.
About Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign:
- Prime Minister Modi launched it to pay tribute to the brave people who sacrificed their lives for the country.
- It will be a 21-day campaign that begins on August 9 until August
- It will include various programmes to remember Bravehearts (veers). Every village panchayat will install the Shilaphalakams (memorial Plaques) to commemorate them.
- It will also witness the ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ across the country, carrying soil in 7500 urns from every corner of India to Delhi.
- The soil along sampling will be used to create the Amrit Vatika near the National War Memorial, Serving as a grand symbol of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’
4. PM congratulates Shaktikanta Das for Being rated “A+” in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2023.
- Shri Das has been placed at the top of the list of three central bank governors who have been rated A+
- The other 2 governors who earned an A+ grade in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2023 are Thomas J. Jordan (Switzerland) and Nguyen Thi Hong (Vietnam).
- About Central Banker Report Cards:
- It is published annually by Global Finance since 1994.
- It assesses and grades the performance of central bank governors.
- It grade the central bank governors of 101 key countries, territories and district, including the European Union, The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Bank of Central African States and the Central Bank of West African States.
