About INDUS X initiative:
INDUS-X is a joint initiative of the United States and India to promote defense innovation and cooperation between the two countries. It was launched in 2022 by the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) program in India and the US Department of Defense (DoD).

2. Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana Review Meeting for North Eastern Region

The review meeting for the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana in the North Eastern Region was conducted.

This involved assessment and implementation of various measures undertaken with Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.

About Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana:
The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) was launched in 2020 with an investment of Rs. 20,050 crore, aimed at consolidating sectoral gains and promoting sustainable growth.

Objectives of PMMSY include enhancing fish production, strengthening fisheries infrastructure, boosting domestic consumption and exports, generating employment, and improving socio-economic conditions of fishers and fish farmers.

Interventions under PMMSY include developing fish production clusters, expanding aquaculture and fish farming, adopting new technologies, establishing brood banks and hatcheries, creating marketing and processing infrastructure, and capacity building.

PMMSY promotes entrepreneurship in the fisheries sector by providing financial assistance for setting up enterprises, processing units, cold chains, and retail outlets.

Access to institutional credit is improved through the provision of Kisan Credit Cards (KCCs).

Special attention is given to the development of fisheries in the North Eastern Region (NER) with allocated funds for infrastructure and socio-economic upliftment.

PMMSY aims to harness the potential of the fisheries sector, promote sustainable growth, and improve livelihoods while contributing to economic development.

3. President of India confers National Florence Nightingale Awards 2022 and 2023.
