National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) conducted an “Introduction to Insect Life” activity as part of Mission LiFE, creating awareness about insect species and their habitats.

Zoological Survey of India organized an awareness program on World Turtle Day, urging visitors to spread the message of Mission LiFE.

GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment (NIHE) organized an awareness campaign for mushroom cultivation under the theme of Mission LiFE, with participants taking a pledge to adopt environmentally friendly lifestyles.

National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM) organized a beach clean-up and awareness event at Kanyakumari Triveni Sangamam. Tourists were educated about eco-friendly practices, responsible tourism, and the Clean India, Clean Seas Initiative. A beach cleanliness drive and sea turtle conservation activities were also conducted.

NCSCM organized an awareness program for students of Anna University, focusing on sustainable living, reduction of single-use plastics, conservation of resources, and responsible consumption.

The concept of “Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE)” introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at COP26 was highlighted as integral to the philosophy of PBR.
2. National Campaign for Updation and Verification of People’s Biodiversity Register Launched in Goa.

The National Campaign for Updation and Verification of People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) was launched in Goa.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in association with the Goa State Biodiversity Board, the National Biodiversity Authority, and the Government of Goa.
-
The importance of maintaining the delicate balance in nature and conserving biodiversity was emphasized.
-
Over 2,67,608 People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBR) have been prepared in the country, documenting natural resources and traditional knowledge.
-
The progress is being made in digitizing the PBRs and transforming them into e-PBR.
-
The concept of “Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE)” introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at COP26 was highlighted as integral to the philosophy of PBR.

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant acknowledged the efforts of the people of Goa in preserving biodiversity and emphasized the role of local communities.

An exhibition showcasing unique products from each Biodiversity Management Committee was inaugurated during the event.

People’s Biodiversity Register serves as a comprehensive record of biodiversity, including habitats, land races, cultivars, domesticated animals, micro-organisms, and knowledge related to biodiversity in a particular area.

Biodiversity Management Committees are responsible for preparing PBRs in consultation with local communities, as per the Biological Diversity Act 2002.

3. Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is going to organize Two-day National Workshop on National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA).

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is organizing a two-day National Workshop on the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA).
-
The workshop aims to encourage State/UT Legislatures to adopt the NeVA platform for transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in conducting House business.

NeVA is a Mission Mode Project under the Digital India Programme, aiming to make State Legislatures paperless and transform them into a ‘Digital House’.
-
21 State legislatures have signed Memorandum of Understanding for implementing NeVA, and funds have been released for 17 legislatures, with 9 already fully digital and operating on the NeVA platform.
-
The workshop will be attended by stakeholders including Secretaries and Senior officers of State Assemblies, Nodal/IT Secretaries of State Governments, and National Informatics Centre (NIC).
-
The workshop will have sessions on NeVA as a platform for Digital House, experience-sharing by representatives from the 9 live legislatures, steps required for NeVA implementation, and emerging technologies for good governance.

Technical experts from Google Inc., Microsoft, and IBM will provide insights on technologies like AI.

National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA):
National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) is a digital initiative under the “Digital India Programme” of the Government of India. It is one of the 44 Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) aimed at transforming the functioning of State Legislatures into a paperless and digital environment. The primary objective of NeVA is to make the conduct of House business in State/UT Legislatures transparent, accountable, and responsive through the use of technology.

Paperless Proceedings: NeVA aims to eliminate the use of paper in the functioning of State Legislatures by providing a digital platform for conducting all legislative activities.

Digital House: NeVA strives to transform State Legislatures into a “Digital House” by digitizing various processes, including legislative proceedings, bills, questions, committees, etc.

Transparency and Accessibility: The application ensures transparency in legislative activities by making information easily accessible to legislators, media, citizens, and other stakeholders.

Efficient Workflow: NeVA streamlines the workflow of State Legislatures by providing automated tools and modules for drafting bills, generating reports, managing committees, and handling legislative procedures.

Collaboration and Integration: The application facilitates seamless collaboration among legislators, legislative staff, and other stakeholders through integrated communication channels and shared platforms.

Knowledge Management: NeVA serves as a repository of legislative documents, historical records, and institutional knowledge, making it easier to retrieve and refer to information.

Data Analytics: The application employs data analytics tools to generate insights and reports on legislative activities, enabling evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation.
