Nannaya Bhattaraka was a legendary Telugu poet who lived in the Eastern Chalukya kingdom of Vengi during the 11th century. He is widely regarded as the first Telugu poet, who along with Thikkana Somayaji and Yerrapragada, forms the famous Telugu Kavitrayam (“trinity of poets”). Nannaya is best known for his contribution to Telugu literature as the author of the first portion of the Andhra Mahabharatam, a Telugu version of the Sanskrit epic, Mahabharata.
