1. PM conveys best wishes on Kharchi Puja.

Topic: GS1 – Art and culture.

 Context:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted people on the occasion of Kharchi Puja.

More information about Kharchi Puja:

  • Kharchi Puja is a significant festival celebrated in Tripura, a state in northeastern India. It is an annual event that takes place in the month of July, following the month of Ashadha in the Hindu calendar.
  • The word “Kharchi” originates from the Tripuri dialect, where “Kharchi” means “pure” or “sacred,” and “Puja” refers to worship or ritual. Thus, Kharchi Puja can be understood as the worship of purity and sanctity.
  • The festival is dedicated to the worship of Chaturdash Devata, which refers to the fourteen deities of Tripura. These deities are believed to be the presiding deities of the land and the guardian deities of the state.
  • Kharchi Puja is a week-long festival, during which various rituals and ceremonies are performed.
  • Kharchi Puja holds great cultural and religious significance for the people of Tripura. It showcases the rich cultural heritage of the state and reflects the devotion and faith of the local community towards their deities.

2. Centre approves Rs. 56,415 crore to 16 States for Capital Investment under ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2023-24’ Scheme

 Topic: GS3 – Infrastructure development

 Context:

  • The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, has approved capital investment proposals of Rs. 56,415 crore in 16 states for the current financial year.
  • The approval comes under the scheme titled ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2023-24’.

More About  ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2023-24’ Scheme:

  • The scheme was announced in the Union Budget for 2023-24.
  • An amount of Rs. 1,30,000 crore has been allocated for the scheme.
  • Under the scheme, financial assistancewill be provided to the state governments in the form of 50-year interest free loan for capital investment projects.
  • The loan provided under the scheme will be over and above the normal borrowing ceiling allowed to the states for the financial year2023-24.
  • The loan amount is to be spent in financial year 2023-24.
  • The scheme is open to all states and union territories.
  • The eligibility criteria for the scheme are:
    1. The state government must have a valid borrowing plan for the financial year 2023-24.
    2. The state government must have a track record of timely repayment of loans.
    3. The state government must have a sound financial management system.
  • The applications for the scheme are to be submitted to the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.
  • The scheme is expected to boost capital investment in the states and help in the creation of infrastructure and employment opportunities.

  • It provides interest free loan to states for capital investment projects.
  • It helps states to increase their capital expenditure.

3. Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, launched NANDI (NOC Approval for New Drug and Inoculation System) Portal.

  • Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala launched the Nandi portal, which stands for NOC Approval for New Drug and Inoculation System.

  • The NANDI portal (NOC Approval for New Drug and Injectable) is a web-based platform launched to streamline the process of granting non-objection certificates (NOCs) for new veterinary drugs and vaccines.

 The NANDI portal has several features that make it a user-friendly and efficient platform for applicants. These features include:

  • A centralized database of all veterinary drugs and vaccines that have been granted NOCs.
  • An online application form that can be filled out and submitted electronically.
  • A tracking system that allows applicants to track the status of their applications.

The NANDI portal is a significant step forward in the government’s efforts to improve the regulation of veterinary drugs and vaccines in India. The portal is expected to make the process of obtaining NOCs more efficient and transparent, and to help ensure the safety and efficacy of veterinary drugs and vaccines in India.

4. Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports invites nominations for Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award 2022
