Additional information on this news:
- The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, was briefed on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on December 15, 2023.
- The MoU aims to foster comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in the field of Information Technology (IT), promoting mutual support, sharing of technologies, information, and investments.
- The MoU becomes effective from the date of signature and will be in force for a duration of 3 years.
- The cooperation extends to both Government-to-Government (G2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) aspects of IT, enhancing bilateral collaboration.
- The Memorandum envisions improved collaboration that could lead to increased employment opportunities in the IT sector.
Background:
- MeitY has the mandate to facilitate international cooperation in emerging and frontier areas of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) under bilateral and regional frameworks.
