1. Hyderabad to host G20 Agriculture Ministerial meeting.

Topic: GS2 – International relations.

Context:

• • • The Agriculture Working Group (AWG) will hold its Ministerial Meeting in Hyderabad from June 15-17, 2023.

Issue:

• • • Over 200 delegates from G20 member countries, invited countries, and International Organizations will attend the event.

    • Side events on managing agribusiness and harnessing digital technologies in agriculture will take place in the second half of the day.

    • It will feature discussions on sustainable agriculture, food security, nutrition, women-led agriculture, sustainable biodiversity, and climate solutions.

    • The third day will conclude with the adoption of the outcomes of the Agriculture Working Group, G20, Indian Presidency.

    • A technical excursion to ICAR-Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR), Hyderabad, will be organized for the delegation.

2. India’s seafood exports touch an all-time high in FY 2022-23

Topic: GS3 – fisheries sector.

Context:

• • • India achieved record-high seafood exports in terms of both volume and value during FY 2022-23.

Issue:

• • • The total seafood exports reached 17,35,286 metric tons, valued at Rs. 63,969.14 crore (US$ 8.09 billion).

    • The export volume increased by 26.73%, the export value in rupee terms increased by 11.08%, and the export value in US dollar terms increased by 4.31% compared to the previous fiscal year.

3. Chandrayaan 3 scheduled to be launched in July.

Topic: GS3 – Science and technology.

Context:

• • • India’s Moon mission, Chandrayaan 3, is scheduled to be launched in July, most likely in the second half of the month.

Issue:

• • • The mission aims to demonstrate critical technology to land a spacecraft on the South Pole of the Moon.

    • Chandrayaan-3 successfully completed essential tests earlier this year, validating its capability to withstand the harsh lunar environment.

    • Chandrayaan-1, India’s earlier lunar mission, identified the presence of water on the Moon’s surface, earning India recognition from premier space agencies like NASA.

    • Chandrayaan-3 will have scientific instruments on the lander and rover to study various aspects of the Moon and potentially study different aspects of Earth as well.

    • The mission’s theme is “Science of the Moon” and “Science from the Moon.”
