• Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in Sant Mirabai Janmotsav in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
• The event celebrated the 525th birth anniversary of Sant Mirabai.
• The Prime Minister released a commemorative stamp and coin in honor of Sant Mirabai.

Sant Mirabai Janmotsav:

Early life and background

• Born in Merta,Rajasthan, India, in 1498
• Daughter of Ratna Singh,a Rajput ruler
• Married to Bhoj Raj Singh,ruler of Mewar, in 1516
• Devout follower of Lord Krishna since childhood

Spiritual journey and devotion

• Dedicated her life to Krishna bhakti (devotion)
• Composed numerous devotional songs (bhajans) and poems (padas)
• Known for her passionate and unrestrained love for Krishna
• Faced opposition from her family and in-laws due to her unconventional devotion
• Faced numerous trials and tribulations,including accusations of poisoning her husband and being forced to drink poison

Legacy and impact

• Considered one of the greatest saints and poets of India
• Her bhajans are still widely sung and admired
• Embodied the spirit of bhakti,emphasizing the personal and intimate relationship between the devotee and the divine
• Her life and teachings continue to inspire people across the world

• Renounced her royal life and embraced the life of a mendicant
• Traveled extensively,spreading her message of devotion and love
• Embraced the concept of nirguna bhakti,the worship of the formless aspect of Krishna
