- The success demonstrates the might and brilliance of Indian scientists.
About Aditya L1 – India’s first solar mission:
- Objective: The primary objective of the Aditya L1 mission is to study the Sun and gather valuable scientific data related to its outermost layer, known as the solar corona. It aims to improve our understanding of various aspects of the Sun’s behavior and its impact on space weather.
- Named After: The mission is named “Aditya L1,” with “Aditya” being a reference to the Sun in Hindu mythology. “L1” signifies its intended position at the first Lagrange point, a stable point in space between the Earth and the Sun.
- It is designed to study the solar corona, the outermost layer of the Sun’s atmosphere. The spacecraft will be placed in a halo orbit around the Sun-Earth L1 Lagrange point, which is a point in space where the gravitational forces of the Sun and Earth balance each other out. This orbit will allow Aditya-L1 to study the Sun’s corona from a unique perspective.
- Launch Vehicle: Aditya L1 was launched using an ISRO launch vehicle, PSLV XL.
