UPSC Perspective: iDEX-DIO showcases defense innovation at Vibrant Gujarat, crucial for India’s defense modernization.

Context:
  • iDEX-DIO, part of Innovations for Defence Excellence, will showcase futuristic technologies at Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024.
  • The pavilion focuses on Unmanned Solutions, AI, Cyber Security, and more. iDEX aims for collaborations and partnerships, fostering innovation in the defence sector.

  • iDEX-DIO, part of the Innovations for Defence Excellence, will participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024 from January 10 to 12, 2024.
  • An iDEX Pavilion with the theme ‘Gateway to the Future’ will showcase futuristic technologies in Unmanned Solutions, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and Advanced Materials.
  • Defence startups/MSMEs associated with iDEX will present cutting-edge solutions at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show 2024, focusing on ‘TECHADE and Disruptive Technologies.’
  • The Trade Show highlights the Champion Services Sector, featuring Digital India initiatives, India Stack, and Emerging Technologies such as Industry 4.0, Smart Manufacturing, and AI/ML.
  • iDEX aims to explore partnerships, collaborations, and engage with industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators during the summit.
  • iDEX, launched in 2018 by the government, fosters an innovation ecosystem in the Defence and Aerospace sector by collaborating with startups, innovators, MSMEs, incubators, and academia.
  • The scheme provides grants and support for R&D with potential for future adoption in the Indian defence and aerospace sector.
  • Currently engaged with 400+ startups and MSMEs, iDEX has cleared procurement of 31 items worth over Rs 2000 Cr and received the PM Award for Innovation in the defence sector.
